Forward Deployed Engineer (SRE)

Techlogix

Sep 2025 - Dec 2025

Worked as an Application Consultant, contributing to enterprise-scale core banking systems for a Tier-1 banking client. My work focused on Oracle FLEXCUBE customization and migration, including upgrading from version 12 to 14.7, PL/SQL optimization, and system refactoring to ensure performance, stability, and regulatory compliance. I designed and implemented banking workflows for transactions, KYC, and account management, performed root-cause analysis for UAT and production issues, and collaborated closely with clients, QA teams, and senior consultants to deliver reliable, compliant solutions in live banking environments.

ConvertX

Self-Driven Project

June 2026 - Sep 2026

A microservices platform for format conversion and developer utilities, built to learn how production systems are actually operated rather than just written. Two Go services sit behind a Kong Gateway Operator with MetalLB handling load balancing, and every backing service is AWS-shaped through LocalStack Pro: RDS for persistence, ElastiCache for caching, Cognito for identity with RS256 tokens verified via JWKS, SecretsManager for every credential, and CloudWatch for logs. The interesting work is the operational layer around the API rather than the conversions themselves. Both services autoscale on CPU, drain in-flight requests on SIGTERM, and are covered by purpose-built load and resilience suites that measure how the cluster behaves when pods are killed and deployments roll.

GNOME Tiling-Window Extension

Self-Driven Project

Mar 2026 – Jul 2026

An i3-style tiling window manager for GNOME Shell, written in GJS, and built out of plain dislike for the window management it replaces. Windows are held in a binary space-partitioning container tree, so every split is a node and an arrangement is one structure rather than a set of remembered positions. That tree is serialized, which is what lets a layout survive a shell restart instead of being rebuilt by hand each session. Floating windows sit inside the same tree rather than beside it as a special case, panes are navigated with vim-style keybindings, and tiles can be rearranged by dragging. Written alongside contributions to other open-source projects.

AWS Cloud Practitioner

Udemy

Issued Feb 2025

A foundational course on AWS: the core service families, the shared responsibility model, regions and availability zones, IAM, and how cloud pricing and billing actually work. Covered containerisation alongside it, which is the piece that carried over most directly into my own work — the microservices projects on this site are Docker-composed, and this is where that grounding came from.

Certified Software Engineer

HackerRank

Issued Feb 2025

HackerRank’s software engineer certification, assessed end to end rather than by language: problem decomposition, data structures and algorithms under time pressure, and building a working solution against a specification. The broader companion to the Java certificate — that one tests the language, this one tests what you do with it.

Masters in Information Systems & Computing

Dublin Business School

Jan 2026 – Jan 2027

Currently pursuing a Master’s in Information Systems & Computing at Dublin Business School, with a strong focus on Java-based enterprise development, system architecture, and software system design. My coursework emphasizes designing scalable and maintainable applications using object-oriented principles, design patterns, and layered/microservice architectures, primarily with Java, C#, and Spring Boot. I am gaining hands-on exposure to cloud-based solutions, including deploying and managing applications with an emphasis on scalability, availability, and performance. In parallel, I am engaged in research and applied learning around distributed systems, covering concepts such as service decomposition, inter-service communication, data consistency, fault tolerance, and system reliability.
